Vintage alterations can be a divisive subject: are you ruining a piece of history or making necessary repairs to preserve and rewear a perfectly good outfit?

With an increased interest in vintage as a sustainable alternative to buying new, the debate rages on about whether it is ever ok to cut up and refashion items someone else may love in their original form, but that is very different to make necessary adjustments to a piece to ensure it gets worn for longer.

In this publication for the UK vintage community, Nanna writes about when it is appropriate to alter a vintage piece from her experience of when to alter out damage to improve the overall condition, and accepting that all bodies are different.
