Sewing/dressmaking intern  – placements start w/c 22. April

We are looking for UK based fashion students with an interest in vintage fashion, hand sewing techniques and traditional garment construction to join our popular internship programme from April 2019: To get most out of your placement with us, and truly understand how alterations and repairs can transform a garment, we recommend students undertake part-time placements with us for 6-8 weeks, but we can be flexible on the number of weeks, depending on your course requirements.

Suitable for individuals interested in the construction and history of vintage garments, especially fashion and garment construction students, you will gain hands-on experience with a range of genuine, quality vintage garments and be expected to assist in carrying out repairs and alterations under supervision and guidance of our experienced seamstresses. You will practice hand- and machine techniques and extend your knowledge of classic couture sewing, pattern cutting and finishing techniques, and gain understanding of the standards expected in a real-life professional and commercial working environment.

Although primarily targeted at fashion, costume and tailoring students, we will also consider applications from recent graduates and other individuals who can demonstrate a true passion for vintage clothing and garment construction.
